This week I saw Deck the Halls, in the spirit of Christmas. Although the movie is a rather silly tale about a man, Danny Davito, who is looking for a purpose in life so he decides to decorate his new house with Christmas lights in the attempt to be seen from space. His next-door neighbor, Mathew Broderick, is the only one who is not fond of the decorating since he was the former “Christmas guy” in the town. Although the movie was often over the top I found it to be a pretty smart narrative and I enjoyed the narrative more than I thought I would. The two men’s battle between who is Mr. Christmas was entertaining and believable enough to move along the film.
